MARINE APLICATION ARMOR/VEST BALLISTIC PROTECTION
During “Desert Storm” Armour of America developed a deck gun mount armor system for several U.S. Navy Frigates operating in the Gulf. The mounting brackets were designed by AoA to take water (wave) loads, and to be quickly installed and removed as required.
The ballistic panels have multiple hit capabilities for rounds up to .50 caliber armor piercing/12.7 API fire at 100 meters.
.50 CAL Machine Gun
.50 CAL machine gun mounts have been located at positions both port and starboard, near the life rails and lifeline at the deck’s edge.
Armour of America surveyed the positions of these gun mounts and has developed five (5) different armor panel configurations. In conjunction with our proprietary deck-mount brackets, combinations of these panels will allow for locating the armor around obstructions near the gun mounts such as vents, electric boxes, cleats and cable bundles.
The same mounting brackets are used in with armor panels for both the .50 cal and 25mm deck-gun mounts. The unique design of the mount allows for locating the panel in any location to position armor panels around the numerous obstructions on a ship’s deck.
Note: The combination of the armor panel and mounting brackets have been tested and approved for reflectivity and transmission properties by the U.S. Navy.
Additional designs have been completed for other models to include:
- Large console interior ballistic blankets
- Small console exterior ballistic bras
- Side gunnel ballistic curtains
- Other sensitive areas of warship that require protection.

.50 CAL Deck Mounted Gun Armor System
Harbor Patrol Boat Armour (HPBA) System
AoA designed the (HPBA) system to cover the most area with the least amount of armour panels. The design allows for the minimum number of Butt Joints and the maximum amount of ballistic integrity.
The (HPBA) system is manufactured from production molds. This manufacturing process not only ensures that each panel is held to exact thickness and dimensional tolerances, but also enables AoA to guarantee exact replacement panels that fit perfectly into an existing set of (HPBA). Because of this production method, we can also offer our customer the commitment to manufacture and ship any panel required for replacement in nine-six (96) hours or less.
